President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to embody honesty and shun riches secured through unethical channels as the nation strives to reshape its foundational principles.
He asserted that reconstructing the country demands a shift in mindsets and ambitions from both officials and the populace.
Speaking during a diaspora engagement on March 6, 2026, marking Independence Day, the President stressed that prioritising moral uprightness and answerability must form the bedrock of Ghana’s advancement.
“Restructuring Ghana is about reshaping principles, reshaping ambitions, and reshaping the fundamental bond between those who govern and those who are governed,” he stated.
Furthermore, the President highlighted the urgency of embedding firm ethical standards in the youth to protect the nation’s destiny.
“We must instruct our young ones that honor is not open to bargaining; that prosperity gathered through shady practices brings misfortune rather than good fortune, and that genuine achievement is gauged not by our gathered possessions, but by our offerings to the nation’s growth,” he remarked.
