The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has presented assorted food items to the Ghana Prisons Service to support inmates across the country during the Ramadan period.
The donation included bags of sugar, gallons of cooking oil, cartons of tomato paste, bags of rice, quantities of milk and other essential food supplies.

The items are to be distributed to major prison facilities nationwide to support the feeding of inmates, particularly Muslim inmates observing the holy month of Ramadan.
Mr Mohammed-Mubarak expressed gratitude to the CEO of Engineers and Planners, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, for his continued support for the Service, noting that the gesture reflected compassion and solidarity with inmates, many of whom are working towards rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

The Minister underscored the significance of supporting inmates during Ramadan, describing the period as one of reflection, sacrifice and spiritual renewal.
He commended the resilience of persons in custody and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving their welfare and living conditions.

Receiving the items, the Deputy Director-General of Prisons in charge of Operations, Dr. Francis Omane Addo, thanked the Minister for his consistent advocacy on behalf of the Service and expressed appreciation to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama for his sustained support.

Dr. Omane Addo assured that the donated items would be put to good use and distributed appropriately to benefit inmates across the designated prison facilities.
