Fans and officials have praised Alex Apau Dadey and the KGL Group for a pivotal GHS 20 million sponsorship deal that supported the Ghana Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Ghanaian conglomerate, with interests in fintech, technology, logistics, gaming, and real estate, signed the landmark two-year deal with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) earlier this year. The sponsorship is widely seen as crucial to securing the team’s spot on the world stage.
“We are grateful to Mr. Alex Apau Dadey and KGL for their unwavering financial support,” said Kwabena Okine, a passionate fan. “For a local company to invest this much is a bold and commendable move.”
Another supporter, Bright Yeboah, applauded the commitment amid global economic challenges. “KGL has shown true love for Ghana. Helping the Black Stars qualify is the best gift for the nation.”
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Dadey emphasized that the sponsorship was a strategic national duty, not just a corporate social responsibility exercise.
“At KGL Group, we believe sports are a fundamental force for national transformation—building discipline, unity, and pride,” Mr. Dadey stated. “We are proud to support Ghana’s sporting journey and help restore pride in the Black Stars.”
He also acknowledged key leaders, including the Minister of Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, and President H.E. John Dramani Mahama, whose legacy and vision for sports development inspired the partnership.
KGL’s support extends beyond the senior team. Through the KGL Foundation, it sponsors the Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship, a vital platform for nurturing young talent across Ghana.
Minister Kofi Iddie Adams commended KGL, calling it a powerful example of corporate Ghana rising to the occasion. “This sponsorship is more than money—it’s about believing in the power of sport to unite and uplift a nation.”
GFA President, Kurt Okraku, added, “KGL’s unwavering support is a shining example of how partnerships drive progress.”
With the Black Stars set for their fifth World Cup, national pride is soaring, thanks significantly to KGL’s backing. As the countdown to 2026 begins, many hope this partnership will inspire more corporate entities to invest in Ghanaian sports.
