A former Public Relations Manager of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), lecturer, Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku, has described the KGL Group’s performance in 2025 as “a remarkable benchmark for Corporate Ghana.”
In a statement issued at the weekend, he noted that while many private organisations were unable to survive “sponsored media attacks” by competitors, KGL’s credibility, integrity, and corporate social responsibility have “successfully negated all attacks” while delivering value to Ghana’s economy.
Dr. Opoku clarified that the decision by the NLA Board to seek legal advice from the Attorney-General on the NLA-KGL licensing agreements was “perfectly in order,” given that the original deal was drafted under the supervision of the Attorney-General’s Representative on the Board. He stated this will “once and for all put to rest the shameful unethical media agenda” against the partnership.
He emphasised that the review was a “normal standard practice,” especially during a change of government, and has “nothing to do with the unmerited and unprofessional media campaign” by the Fourth Estate and Media Foundation for West Africa, whom he said are “still struggling to pinpoint a single issue” with the agreement.
According to the statement, before the NLA-KGL deal in 2019, the NLA’s previous attempts to digitise the 5/90 lottery “tried and failed.” KGL Technology is credited with delivering an “overwhelming transformation,” turning the lottery into an “economic powerhouse.”
Dr. Opoku cited official figures showing KGL’s partnership has “skyrocketed digital earnings” for the NLA by more than a hundred per cent in six years, contributing to the Consolidated Fund through five revenue streams at “absolutely no cost or risk to the NLA.”
The statement highlighted that KGL’s work goes “beyond the balance sheet,” calling the company a “force for good.” It detailed the KGL Foundation’s projects, including:
1. A multimillion-dollar mental health facility under construction at KNUST.
2. Scholarships, medical incubators for hospitals, and multi-year sponsorships of the Black Stars and grassroots football.
3. A five-year agreement with the Ghana Football Association to develop youth football.
Dr. Opoku noted that KGL’s ethical and transformative model has earned its Founder, Alex Apau Dadey, the Forbes Best of Africa Corporate Leadership and Innovation Award, recognising excellence in “ethical practices, sustainability, and transparent governance.”
He concluded that KGL has set the “undisputed standard” as a catalyst for digital change and national development, affirming that “absolutely no amount of media propaganda or smear campaign can dim the bright shining light of KGL.”
