The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has issued a statement rejecting claims linking it directly to alleged extortion and sexual assault cases involving two students.
In a release dated April 24, 2026, the University said the incidents did not occur on campus but in Ayeduase, a nearby community outside its jurisdiction.
Management also denied reports that the suspect is affiliated with the University, clarifying that the individual is a private security guard employed by a local school and not part of KNUST’s security services.
The cases have been reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit office at Oduom in Kumasi, where investigations are ongoing and the suspect remains in custody.
KNUST said it is providing support to the affected students through its Counselling Centre, complementing services already offered by DOVVSU.
The University reaffirmed its commitment to student safety and pledged continued cooperation with law enforcement to ensure justice.
It also urged media outlets to verify information with its University Relations Office to avoid the spread of misinformation and unnecessary public concern.
