Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu says a petition he filed against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has been put on hold following what he describes as a political settlement.
Mr Kpebu said the petition was forwarded to the Chief Justice but has not yet been determined. He stressed that his petition is separate from those recently dismissed for failing to establish a prima facie case.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Mr Kpebu insisted that his petition contains substantial evidence against the Special Prosecutor.
He attributed the delay to a political intervention, claiming that individuals had approached President John Dramani Mahama to seek a settlement.
Mr Kpebu said he was willing to accept the situation for now but suggested that the matter could still be resolved if the Special Prosecutor reconsidered his conduct and resigned.
He also warned that he would publish the contents of his petition if it were dismissed.
“But you can’t throw that petition out. If it gets thrown out, I will publish it,” he said.
Mr Kpebu added that he could also choose to make the petition public even before a formal decision is reached.
