Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has declined to confirm whether he will seek a third term when the association holds its next presidential election in 2027.
The GFA amended its statutes in 2025 to allow presidents to serve a maximum of three terms, with 114 of the 124 delegates present voting in favour.
Okraku, who has led the GFA since 2019 and secured a second term in 2023, said his immediate focus was on improving Ghana football rather than the next election.
Asked by 3Sports if he would contest for a third term, he simply replied: “I don’t know.”
He added that there was still considerable time before the next elective General Assembly.
“When the time comes, I will speak. When the time comes, the football family will speak.”
Okraku also insisted that he did not intend to remain in office indefinitely.
“I can never stay here forever, and I do not intend to stay here forever. When the time is due, Kurt will fly away.”
Meanwhile, former Black Stars captain André Ayew has reportedly been linked with a possible bid for the GFA presidency, although he has not formally declared his candidacy.
The next GFA presidential and Executive Council elections are scheduled for 2027.
