President John Dramani Mahama has praised Minister for Foreign Affairs and North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describing him as one of the hardest-working members of his administration whose efforts have strengthened Ghana’s diplomatic engagements and delivered results on key national assignments.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Juapong Model Market in the Volta Region, President Mahama said Mr Ablakwa has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment and efficiency in every responsibility entrusted to him.
“Being here, I must tell you that he is among my hardest-working ministers. In every critical assignment that I have given him, it is he who has done the legwork,” the President said.
Mahama singled out the Foreign Affairs Minister’s role in securing international support for Ghana’s reparations resolution at the United Nations, saying Mr Ablakwa successfully engaged partner countries to rally backing for the initiative.
The President also credited the North Tongu MP with coordinating the evacuation of Ghanaians stranded in conflict-affected areas, describing the operation as a significant diplomatic achievement.
“The repatriation of our citizens… it was he who did the legwork. He arranged the charter flights to airlift our citizens safely home,” he stated.
President Mahama further disclosed that Mr Ablakwa had procured 100 deep freezers for traders who will be affected by the redevelopment of the Juapong Market, describing the initiative as a practical measure to support their livelihoods during the construction period.
He thanked the Foreign Affairs Minister for his dedication to public service and urged residents to continue supporting the development projects being implemented in the North Tongu constituency.
