John Dramani Mahama has assured residents of La that the La General Hospital will be completed and ready for commissioning by November 2027.
The assurance followed a site inspection of the reconstruction project, where the President, accompanied by Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work.
The hospital’s closure after demolition placed heavy pressure on nearby facilities such as 37 Military Hospital and Ridge Hospital, forcing residents to seek care elsewhere.

Mr Mahama said restoring healthcare services in La remains a priority and commended contractors for steady progress since 2025.
To ease the strain on emergency care, the government plans to upgrade the COVID-19 emergency centre at Burma Camp to handle urgent cases.
The Health Minister noted that although work began in 2020, delays were caused by funding challenges, which were resolved in 2025, allowing construction to resume fully.
When completed, the new facility is expected to serve over 50,000 residents with modern equipment and expanded services.
