President John Dramani Mahama will today, Friday, February 27, deliver the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament.
The address is expected to provide a comprehensive update on Ghana’s current state of affairs, detailing progress across key sectors and outlining government priorities for the year ahead. Areas likely to feature prominently include the economy, health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and Ghana’s international engagements.
The presentation is in fulfilment of Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates the President to address Parliament at the beginning of each session on the state of the nation.
Ahead of the address, the Minority has called on the President to outline concrete measures to tackle youth unemployment and broader economic challenges. Meanwhile, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has directed Members of Parliament to be seated by 8:30 a.m., warning that late entry will not be permitted.
The 2026 SONA is expected to set the tone for legislative and policy direction for the year, offering insight into the government’s development agenda.
