Mahama Woes Investors Into Africa

President John Dramani Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has encouraged global investors to tap into Africa’s vast economic prospects, branding the continent “the world’s most vibrant emerging market” and positioning Ghana as the most dependable gateway.

He made this appeal in his speech at the Opening of the 8th Africa-Singapore Business Forum on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

According to him, Africa presents a distinct chance for businesses and investors looking to scale up, especially in renewable energy, tech, and trade. “I’m speaking today as an African leader and Ghana’s President. Our message is straightforward: Africa’s investable, and Ghana’s your solid entry point to the continent. The continent’s the world’s most dynamic emerging market,” he stated.

Highlighting Africa’s growth path, President Mahama noted the continent has 1.4 billion people – mostly young, fast urbanizing, and digitally plugged in. By 2030, he projected Africa’s cities will be home to over 700 million consumers. He pointed out the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has created the world’s biggest new free trade zone by participating countries, unlocking a $3.4 trillion market and cutting barriers across supply chains.

“Africa’s got huge renewable energy potential and is already a global leader in mobile money and fintech uptake. This market’s ready for scaled solutions. But this chance needs capital at the right price and with the right tools,” he emphasized. President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s preparedness to be a stable, strategic, and investor-friendly base for those eyeing Africa’s vast opportunities.
