The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Robert Akator, in connection with the alleged murder of a two-year-old boy at Wli-Afegame in the Hohoe Municipality.

The suspect was apprehended on September 15, 2026, after police discovered the child’s lifeless body following an intelligence tip-off.

In a statement signed by the Volta North Regional Public Relations Officer, Inspector Felix Kwao, the Police said the body had been deposited at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Mr Akator is currently in police custody, assisting investigators with inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“He will be put before the court to face justice,” Inspector Kwao said.

The Police have urged the public to remain calm, avoid speculation and allow investigators to conduct their work professionally.

Members of the public have also been encouraged to provide credible information that could assist the investigation and enhance public safety.

“The Volta North Regional Police Command remains committed to protecting lives, maintaining law and order, and ensuring public safety,” the statement said.
