The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has reported himself to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following a High Court warrant authorising his arrest.
The MP arrived at the EOCO office in the company of his counsel, Samuel Atta Kyea, and other Members of Parliament.
His decision to report himself comes a day after the High Court, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, granted EOCO an order authorising the agency to arrest him.
EOCO had told the Court that it had exhausted reasonable efforts to secure the MP’s voluntary attendance for questioning.
The agency subsequently sought the Court’s authority to compel his attendance after an earlier invitation and an attempted arrest reportedly resulted in a heated confrontation at the premises of the Accra High Court.
Among the MPs who accompanied Baffour Awuah to the EOCO office were Kofi Amankwah Manu, Subin MP Obiri Yeboah, and former Deputy Attorney-General, Joseph Kpemka.
The details of the MP’s engagement with EOCO are expected to become clearer following his appearance before investigators.
Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has disclosed that Baffour Awuah is being investigated over alleged unauthorised financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Ltd.
According to Dr Srem-Sai, the investigation relates to suspected offences including financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering.
He disclosed the details in a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
EOCO’s latest action forms part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged transactions, with the MP now expected to engage with investigators following his decision to report himself.
