In a shocking turn of events, Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, paid a solidarity visit to former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, after his home was raided by National Security operatives.
The operation, allegedly led by Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa, has raised eyebrows and sparked widespread condemnation.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of heavily armed men stormed Dr. Addison’s residence at Roman Ridge around 5 a.m., on Wednesday, March 19.
The operatives, who arrived in three vehicles, forcefully entered the premises, disabling the CCTV system before demanding that Dr. Addison reveal supposed “vaults” containing hidden cash.
Dr. Addison, however, denied having any such vaults or caches of money on his property. Despite this, the operatives ransacked the residence, leaving it in disarray. The raid has raised concerns about the use of force and the targeting of high-profile individuals.

Afenyo-Markin’s visit to Dr. Addison is seen as a show of support and solidarity in the face of this shocking incident. The Minority Leader’s gesture underscores the need for accountability and transparency in the actions of National Security operatives.
The incident has also sparked debate about the role of National Security in investigating alleged crimes. While the agency has the mandate to investigate and prevent crimes, the use of force and intimidation raises concerns about the erosion of civil liberties.
As the investigation into the raid continues, many are calling for a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the operation.
The outcome of the investigation will be crucial in determining the fate of those involved and the future of National Security operations in Ghana.
