Government will not conduct any new recruitment into the country’s security services in 2027, Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has announced.

He said the move is to allow the state to absorb the large number of qualified applicants who are already in the system waiting to be enlisted.

According to the minister, the directive came from President John Dramani Mahama, and government is committed to ensuring that those who have passed all required stages but could not gain admission due to limited vacancies are given priority.

Mr. Muntaka made the disclosure when he appeared before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, October 20.

He stated emphatically that no new portal will be opened for fresh applications next year. “Next year, there will be no new applicants. We are not opening the portal for fresh applications based on the President’s instructions.

“Those who have already applied, gone through the process and qualified for training but could not go because of lack of space are the ones we will pick.

“We will continue to pick from the existing list until it is exhausted before we allow new applications,” he told the Committee.
