President John Dramani Mahama has charged investors operating in Ghana to strictly adhere to the country’s laws, maintain high standards and open up real opportunities for local businesses and workers.
He said while government was committed to providing a stable and business-friendly environment for investments to thrive and expand, investors must also ensure their operations contribute tangibly to Ghana’s development.
The President made the call at the sod-cutting ceremony for the $1.3 billion Sentuo Airport Garden City Project in Accra. He noted that the success of big-ticket investments should not be judged only by the magnitude of infrastructure built, but by the economic opportunities created for Ghanaians.
“Government is ready to work with investors who make long-term commitments to Ghana. We will continue to strengthen the business environment and support investments that contribute meaningfully to our country’s development.
“In return, we expect investors to fully comply with our laws, uphold the highest standards, and create genuine opportunities for Ghanaian businesses and workers to participate,” he said.
President Mahama called for deliberate inclusion of local businesses, engineers, architects, artisans, technicians and suppliers in major projects, while urging investors to offer apprenticeships, hands-on training and skills transfer for the youth.
