The Ghana Police Service has apprehended Newton Allotey, a prime suspect in the violent clashes that rocked Omanjor during the Homowo festival, resulting in three fatalities and multiple injuries.
According to police sources, Allotey, believed to be a member of the armed group that stormed the Omanjor chief’s palace, had been evading capture, hiding out in Dansoman.
However, a tip-off led to a dawn raid by four tactical teams from the Special Support Unit around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Dansoman Last Stop. During the operation, officers seized 18 spent BB cartridges linked to the Omanjor attack.

Allotey is currently in police custody, assisting investigators. The Police Service is urging anyone with information that could aid in the arrest of other suspects to come forward.
This development marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation, and the police are working to ensure that all those responsible for the violence face justice.
