President John Mahama has underscored that the escalating tensions in the Middle East were deeply troubling, calling for prayers and renewed efforts toward peace.
Speaking on Monday, March 16, during an Iftar with the Muslim community at Jubilee House, the seat of government, President Dramani Mahama urged global cooperation to quell the conflict.
“We are all concerned about what’s happening in the Middle East,” he said. “The conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran affects not just the region, but the whole world. We pray Allah touches the hearts of those involved and brings peace.”
He appealed to Muslims to seek divine intervention during Ramadan for lasting peace, saying, “If you’re unforgiving and violent, you’re not a true Muslim or Christian. We must safeguard Ghana’s peace amidst global turmoil.”
The President added, “I humbly seek your prayers this Ramadan for Ghana, our leaders, and conflict-ridden areas, especially the Middle East.” The crisis followed US-Israeli strikes on Iran’s military and nuclear sites on February 28, 2026, prompting retaliatory attacks on Israeli and US targets.
