The President of the Online Publishers Association of Ghana (OPAG), Mr. Michael Petit Mawugbe, known as Efo Mawugbe, has been named Chairman of the Jury for the Journalism for Peace and Social Cohesion Awards.
Efo Mawugbe’s selection came after his deep media experience and notable input and presentations at the Sahel Peace Initiative (SPI) Summit staged in Bamako, Mali several months ago.
Recognised for his firm position on digital literacy and his campaign against misinformation and disinformation, the OPAG leader will head a jury comprising members from five African states — Ghana, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast — to review entries from applicants and pick deserving recipients for the JPSC Awards.
“It is humbling to be appointed amongst competent media giants from the sub-region. This is a win for Ghana and I believe this is a testament that OPAG’s advocacy is being recognised beyond the shores of Ghana”, the OPAG President stated.
“…It also signifies recognition of Ghana’s performance in media freedom index.” The JPSC operates under the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace of Burkina, CJP-Burkina, which spearheads the execution of Sahel Peace Initiative programs with financing from CRS.
