The Office of the Special Prosecutor has dismissed what it describes as misleading and sensational media reports suggesting that a court has cleared Nana Yaw Duodu, also known as Dr Sledge, of corruption.
In a statement, the OSP clarified that it has not filed any criminal charges against Dr Sledge, who is associated with Godridge Ghana Limited, and that no court has made any pronouncement on his guilt or innocence.
The Office explained that investigations into the operations of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) covering the period between 2020 and 2024 are still ongoing. The probe includes aspects relating to the activities of Dr Sledge, with transactions under scrutiny estimated at approximately $94 million.
According to the OSP, it froze assets in 2025, including vehicles belonging to Dr Sledge valued at GH¢18 million, as part of its investigations. In January 2026, however, the High Court declined to confirm the asset freezing order.
The Office said it subsequently initiated legal processes aimed at nullifying the court’s refusal to confirm the freeze and took additional steps to re-secure the assets.
“The assets remain frozen and are under the authority, protection and preservation of the OSP in the public interest,” the statement said, adding that tracing operations are ongoing to identify and freeze additional assets suspected to be tainted.
The OSP emphasised that once investigations are concluded, any individual against whom sufficient evidence is established will be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The clarification comes amid public debate following headlines that suggested Dr Sledge had been exonerated by the courts.
