The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery at a jewellery shop in Dzorwulu, Accra, following months of investigations.

The suspects, Abubakar Mamoud and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, also known as Justin Martin, were picked up on February 24 at Anya in the Greater Accra Region by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters.

In a statement issued on March 25 and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID, the police said the arrests are linked to a robbery that occurred on September 11, 2025, near Nyaho Clinic.

According to the statement, two armed men on a motorbike carried out the attack.

“Two armed men on a motorbike attacked a shop, assaulted an attendant, broke the glass door, and made away with assorted jewellery from the shop,” the police said.

Investigators disclosed that a search conducted in the suspects’ rooms led to the retrieval of items believed to have been used in the robbery. These included a hammer, black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, gold weighing scale, diamond detector, backpack, hand gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes.

Police further revealed that the suspects admitted their involvement during interrogation.

“During interrogation, the suspects admitted to the offence and mentioned one Eddy of Oyarifa as the receiver of the stolen items,” the statement said.

Efforts are currently underway to track down the said individual.

The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on Thursday, March 26, 2026, as investigations continue.
