Ghana could experience intermittent power outages between April 24 and 25 following a disruption to the national grid caused by a fire at a Ghana Grid Company Limited substation in Akosombo.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday afternoon, affected key transmission operations and created supply constraints in parts of the country.
Authorities say engineers are working around the clock to restore the damaged infrastructure. However, short-term stability will depend on whether electricity demand exceeds current generation capacity, particularly during peak periods.
Richard Gyan-Mensah indicated that while power generation is ongoing, the exact balance between supply and demand remains uncertain, raising the possibility of outages if consumption rises sharply.
Meanwhile, John Abdulai Jinapor assured the public that repair works are being carried out on a 24-hour basis to restore full stability to the national grid as quickly as possible.
