Ghanaian superstar musician Shatta Wale has made a generous donation of $100,000 to the Black Stars World Cup Fund. This contribution comes as part of the ongoing fundraising campaign to support Ghana’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the nation rallying behind its team as they aim for glory in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The announcement of Shatta Wale’s donation was made during a star-studded fundraising event at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Friday night, which saw a number of influential individuals and corporate organizations coming together to support the Black Stars.
Shatta Wale’s pledge follows a $101,000 donation from fellow musician Stonebwoy, who made headlines earlier this week. Stonebwoy’s contribution included $81,000 in cash and an additional $20,000 worth of music services to help with the World Cup campaign.
The funds raised will go towards covering the costs of flying Ghanaian supporters to the tournament, ensuring that the Black Stars have a strong and passionate fan base cheering them on during their campaign.
President John Dramani Mahama, who launched the campaign, also announced that the government would assist local television stations in acquiring World Cup broadcast rights.
This will ensure that Ghanaians can follow the Black Stars’ journey throughout the competition, no matter where they are in the world.
