Ghanaian music star, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, aka Shatta Wale, is facing questions over his ownership of a Lamborghini Urus.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says Shatta Wale couldn’t provide solid proof he lawfully acquired the luxury vehicle. In statements to EOCO, Shatta Wale claimed he bought the car from “the Street,” possibly from someone named “ZAK” who contacted him via WhatsApp. However, he admits he doesn’t know ZAK’s real identity and deleted the WhatsApp contact.
Shatta Wale also failed to show any formal paperwork like a sales receipt or transfer documents proving ownership. The only document he has is a customs declaration form with the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who’s currently serving time in jail. Fans of Shatta Wale showed up at EOCO offices demanding his release from custody. The musician was granted bail of GHS10 million with two sureties due to issues related to tax compliance. EOCO says his release depends on meeting all legal requirements.
Shatta Wale’s media manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah (Sammy Flex), confirmed in a video update that the musician’s team is working hard to secure his release. “We urge the SM Family and all well-wishers to remain calm and avoid any speculation. We have the utmost confidence in the judicial process,” Baah said.
