Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has announced the appointment of Xorse Godzi as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective June 11, 2026.
Mr Godzi succeeds Mansa Nettey, who is retiring after more than 25 years of service with the bank. Her tenure is credited with strengthening the bank’s resilience and reinforcing its brand in Ghana.
A seasoned banking professional with more than two decades of experience, Xorse Godzi has held several senior positions within the Standard Chartered Group. His previous roles include Director of Global Corporates in London, United Kingdom, and Head of Commodity Traders and Agribusiness for Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Executive Director and Head of Ghana Corporates for Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC.
The bank described Mr Godzi as a leader with strong expertise in building strategic client relationships, extensive knowledge of the bank’s global network, and a proven ability to guide teams through challenging periods. He has played a key role in managing the bank’s operations in Ghana since 2017.
Commenting on the transition, Board Chairman Ebenezer Twum Asante praised outgoing CEO Mansa Nettey for her years of dedicated service.
“On behalf of the Board, I thank Mansa Nettey for her sterling service as Chief Executive Officer and for over 25 years of dedicated contributions to Standard Chartered. We wish her a fulfilling retirement and future,” he said.
Mr Asante also expressed confidence in the bank’s incoming leader.
“We are delighted to welcome Xorse Godzi to lead Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC at this pivotal point in the Bank’s journey. Xorse brings deep market insight, strong leadership and a bold, future-focused mindset that aligns with the Bank’s ambitions,” he stated.
“I believe he will steer the Bank to deliver sustainable, shared growth and create long-term value for our clients, colleagues, communities, shareholders and the country at large.”
Reacting to his appointment, Mr Godzi described the opportunity as an honour, particularly as the bank marks 130 years of operations in Ghana.
“I am honoured to lead Standard Chartered Bank at such a defining moment, celebrating 130 years of presence and impact in Ghana,” he said.
“This is a franchise with an extraordinary legacy and even greater potential. My commitment remains to empower our people to deliver exceptional value for our clients and shareholders and to position the Bank for long-term, sustainable growth.”
