A road crash near Paradise Restaurant on the Accra–Kumasi highway has claimed the life of a woman and left 14 others injured.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and involved a MAN Diesel truck and a Toyota Hiace.

According to preliminary reports, the crash occurred when the MAN truck, travelling towards Accra, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the Toyota Hiace.

The Bunso Fire Station received a distress call at about 7:30 p.m. and immediately dispatched a six-member team to the scene. The firefighters arrived at approximately 7:46 p.m. and found both vehicles significantly damaged from the collision.

An eyewitness reportedly told emergency responders that the MAN truck, with registration number AS 4765-11, had attempted to make way for a Toyota Vitz that was allegedly overtaking improperly.

The manoeuvre is said to have caused the truck to veer across the highway, where it collided with the side of the Toyota Hiace, registered ER 655-25.

The front section of the MAN truck sustained partial damage, while the Toyota Hiace suffered extensive damage along its side.

Firefighters provided assistance to the injured and helped passengers retrieve personal belongings from the damaged vehicles.

One female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while 14 other occupants sustained injuries and were attended to by emergency personnel.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. Investigations are expected to establish the events leading to the collision and determine the factors that contributed to the accident.

The fire crew subsequently cleared the affected section of the highway and concluded its operations at approximately 8:46 p.m.
