Thirteen people have died in a fatal road accident on the Sege-Tema highway in the Greater Accra Region.

The crash, which occurred on Wednesday, September 2, involved a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace travelling along the Sege highway towards Ada.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, officers from the Sege Fire Station responded to the incident after it was reported.

A total of 18 people were involved in the crash. Thirteen died, while the remaining five sustained critical injuries and are receiving treatment at the Sege Polyclinic.

The cause of the accident has not yet been established.

The tragedy has renewed concerns about road safety, with motorists urged to exercise caution, observe speed limits and avoid dangerous overtaking, particularly on busy highways.
