The Ghana Police Service has arrested 10 suspects, including 8 Chinese nationals and 2 Ghanaians, for allegedly stealing and processing ECG cables at a facility in Tema. The operation, led by the CID and Ministry of Energy, uncovered over 100 drums of stolen cables on March 4, 2026.

“We’ve uncovered a large cache of stolen Electricity Company of Ghana service cables and arrested 10 suspects in connection with an organised cable theft and metal export syndicate,” said Lydia Yaako Donkor, CID Director-General.

The suspects, including Sentuo Company managers, were caught cutting and stripping ECG cables, compressing the metal into blocks for export. The theft has severely impacted electricity supply nationwide. Police have vowed to protect national assets and bring perpetrators to justice. The 10 suspects are Yuxiaoting, He Jing, Xu Changjiu, Li Lei, Chen Jin, Zheng Ma, Wang Jian, Bin Bin, Samuel Ekpe, and Priscilla Padu.
