Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service in the Volta Region responded to two emergency incidents on Wednesday, May 13, involving a road traffic accident and a residential fire outbreak.
According to the Service, officers from the Peki Fire Station were first dispatched to the Peki–Asikuma Road following an accident involving a SINO tipper truck. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters conducted rescue operations and successfully assisted two male victims trapped in the incident.
Later in the day, the same team responded to a fire outbreak at Asikuma Zongo, where a three-bedroom house with a thatched roof had been consumed by flames.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it spread to nearby buildings, preventing additional destruction within the community and bringing the situation under control.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 14, by the Volta Regional Public Relations Office, the Service credited the swift intervention of firefighters for helping to save lives and minimise property damage.
The statement noted that emergency crews managed to extinguish the fire in time to stop it from affecting adjoining structures.
The Ghana National Fire Service also urged members of the public to promptly report emergencies to allow rescue teams to respond quickly and effectively.
According to the Service, early reporting remains essential in protecting lives, limiting damage and improving emergency response outcomes.
