Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has restored water supply to several communities in West Accra after completing repairs on a damaged transmission line.
The restoration follows a cut in supply on Friday, August 28, after a 500-millimetre diameter main pipeline was damaged during excavation works by AWERCO Construction Limited.
The construction firm was working on underground storm drains between Kaneshie First Light and Hansonic Junction when the line burst, flooding the trench and cutting supply to adjoining areas.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 29, GWL said its engineers worked around the clock, dewatering the trench to gain access to the affected section for repairs.
Communities whose supply has been restored include Mallam, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Mataheko, Korle Bu, Mamprobi, Dansoman Township, Chorkor and surrounding areas.
GWL however, stated that some customers may still experience low pressure or intermittent flow as pressure builds up in the network.
The company thanked customers for their patience and urged those still experiencing challenges to report through its official channels.
