The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has started proceedings to expel former Environment Minister, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, after he criticised the party, calling it “fake” and questioning its internal democratic processes.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng made these comments during a Channel One TV interview on Monday, January 12, 2026, alleging that the 2023 presidential primary was rigged in favor of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The NPP has rejected these allegations, describing them as “baseless and unsubstantiated”. The party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated that Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s comments are “highly reprehensible” and undermine the party’s unity and integrity.
