The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Elections Committee has sounded the alarm over a fake voters’ list circulating on social media ahead of the June 30 polls. The Committee described the move as a deliberate attempt to mislead members and undermine confidence in the electoral process.
“The Committee urges all members to ignore this mischievous fabrication and rely solely on the official voters’ register, which has been duly signed by both the GJA General Secretary and Treasurer,” the statement read.
Members are advised to verify their status on the voters’ register by visiting the official GJA website or contacting the Elections Committee directly. The Ghana Police Service will be present at all regional voting centres to maintain peace and order.
“Any individual or group that attempts to cause confusion will be promptly escorted out of the premises,” the Committee cautioned. Valid identification, including the Ghanaian Passport, Voter’s ID, and Ghana Card, will be required to cast a vote.
“Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and credible election. May the best candidates win – and may the GJA be the ultimate winner,” the statement concluded.
