Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed concern over the resurgence of power outages, warning that the situation is imposing significant strain on businesses nationwide.
Speaking at the 40th anniversary of the Mid-West Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sunyani, Dr Bawumia said he had been urged by many Ghanaians to relay a clear message to the National Democratic Congress regarding the economic impact of the ongoing disruptions in electricity supply.
He noted that persistent outages are undermining business operations, increasing costs, and creating uncertainty within the private sector.
Dr Bawumia also highlighted concerns among young people about delays in the implementation of the proposed 24-hour economy policy. According to him, expectations remain high, with many anticipating that the initiative will generate employment and expand economic opportunities.
In addition, he pointed to grievances raised by farmers over outstanding payments, urging the government to settle arrears owed to them in order to ease financial pressures within the agricultural sector.
