One person is in critical condition and about 40 others — including four police officers — were injured after a swarm of bees attacked the Daavi Blessed Police Station at Gomoa Amoada Junction in the Gomoa East District.
Reports indicate the bees had been nesting inside a tipper truck parked near the station. The swarm was triggered after the vehicle owner opened the bonnet, causing the insects to disperse and attack nearby residents and officers.
Speaking to Adom News, a victim, Sakora Ahiadome, described the incident as terrifying, explaining that he attempted to spray the bees but narrowly escaped serious harm.
“One person is in critical condition and urgently needs medical attention, or he could die,” he said.
He also disclosed that the bees attacked animals in the area, killing three fowls, while police officers were reportedly trapped inside the station for about three hours during the ordeal.
The incident has left residents shaken and raised concerns about safety precautions when dealing with aggressive bee swarms in public spaces.
