Ghana’s 69th Independence Anniversary Parade will be held at the forecourt of Jubilee House on March 6, 2026, the Information Services Department (ISD) has announced.
In a notice dated February 24, 2026, and signed by Acting ISD Director, Winnifred N. Mahama, media organisations were invited to apply for accreditation by February 27 at 5:00 pm to cover the event.
This will be the second consecutive year the national celebration is staged at Jubilee House, following a similar arrangement in 2025 aimed at reducing public expenditure. Last year’s event reportedly cost about GH¢1.5 million, compared with an estimated GH¢15 million if it had been held at Black Star Square, the traditional venue for Independence Day parades since its completion in 1961.
Accreditation arrangements
Due to limited space and expected high demand, each media house will receive only one accreditation slot. However, organisations with existing presidential accreditation may assign already approved reporters.
Applications must be submitted through an official letter indicating the names and contact details of the assigned journalist and crew before the deadline.
Accreditation will be non-transferable, and late arrivals may be denied entry. Accredited personnel are required to wear formal or business attire.
Photographers and videographers must report by 6:45 am for security screening and positioning, display their badges at all times, and remain within designated media zones. Movement will be restricted during key ceremonial segments, including the national anthem and presidential address.
Only professional cameras and video equipment will be permitted. Drones and aerial devices are prohibited without prior written approval. Tripods and monopods must be used in approved areas, while stabilisers and gimbals will be allowed under guidelines. Live streaming via personal or mobile devices will not be permitted.
Access to the presidential dais and surrounding areas will be limited to official photographers assigned to the Red Security Zone, with other restricted areas including security checkpoints and VIP seating sections.
Presidency Communications, in collaboration with Ghana Television, will provide a live video feed for broadcasters. Media houses intending to air the event live must indicate this in their accreditation applications.
