The Member of Parliament for Biakoye, Jean-Marie Formadi, has criticised the Akufo-Addo government for failing to pay contractors, a situation she says stalled several major road construction projects across the country.
According to her, many of the projects initiated under the government’s widely publicised Year of Roads agenda could not be completed within the administration’s eight-year tenure due to delayed payments.
Speaking during parliamentary debates on the State of the Nation Address delivered by President John Dramani Mahama, Formadi said the current government is committed to completing abandoned road projects and expanding new ones.
“It will interest you to know that most contractors were not paid in this country. For that matter, most of the roads they were contracted to build were abandoned
“Mr Speaker, the contractors were not on site because they were not paid. But as we speak, most contractors have now been paid. All abandoned roads are back on track,” she said
