Bongo DCE Confirmed Dead
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsAppp

Mr. Joseph Akasake Abaa, the Bongo District Chief Executive (DCE), has died after a short illness.

The cause of his death is currently unknown.

However, sources close to the family revealed that he died at the Upper East Regional Hospital at Bolgatanga on Sunday, February 22, 2026, following a brief illness.

Alhaji Tahiru Aberinga, the Bongo Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who confirmed the news to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, described the situation as shocking and unexpected.

The late DCE was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama and confirmed by members of the Bongo District Assembly as the DCE for the area in April 2025.

Prior to that, Mr Abaa had served the people of Zorko-Goo-Awaah as an Assembly Member for three consecutive terms.

He had also served as the Bongo Constituency Youth Organiser of the NDC, before becoming the Constituency Secretary of the party in 2022.

He had also worked as a storekeeper at the Sirigu Integrated Senior High School and Zuarungu Senior High School.
