The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, COP Lydia Yaa Donkor, has called for deeper collaboration between the CID and the Ghana Military Police Command to effectively respond to the changing nature of crime.
She made the call during a working visit to the Military Police Command at Burma Camp on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
COP Donkor noted that crime has moved beyond conventional patterns and now increasingly involves cyber-related and technology-driven offences.
She stressed the importance of continuous capacity building, particularly in crime scene management, interviewing techniques and digital investigations, to keep pace with these developments.

The Commanding Officer of the Ghana Military Police, Lt Col Jacqueline Dela Galley, also expressed concern about the rise in impersonation and cyber-related crimes, describing them as significant emerging threats.
She further highlighted the need for clearer and more efficient referral systems in cases involving both military personnel and civilians, to ensure smooth coordination and avoid procedural delays between the two institutions.
Both leaders expressed confidence that renewed engagement and more structured collaboration would strengthen investigations and enhance law enforcement responses to evolving security challenges.
