The High Court has placed a temporary freeze on five bank accounts and four properties owned by former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation, Dennis Miracles Aboagye.
The order, issued as part of an ongoing EOCO investigation, blocks all transactions on the accounts and bars the sale, transfer, mortgage or disposal of the four parcels of land until the court gives further direction.
EOCO says the move was to secure assets that may be linked to its probe into alleged financial and procurement breaches estimated at about GH¢55 million during Mr. Aboagye’s tenure at IMCCoD.
Investigators are currently reviewing contracts and payments made within that period to establish whether any wrongdoing occurred.
Under Ghanaian law, agencies like EOCO can seek preservation orders from the court to prevent assets suspected to be tied to economic or organised crime from being moved or sold while investigations are ongoing.
Mr. Aboagye has rejected the claims against him. He insists he did nothing wrong. He was granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties and will remain on bail pending the outcome of EOCO’s investigations.
