President John Dramani Mahama has underscored that he is not bothered by criticism of his government, insisting that public scrutiny only helps him govern better.
Speaking to members of the Ghanaian community in Moscow, Russia, the President said he welcomes divergent views and does not take criticism as a personal attack, but as a vital part of democratic governance.
According to him, feedback from citizens, even when harsh, gives him the opportunity to reflect, correct his course and improve decision-making.
“I don’t mind if people tell me I am leading the country in the wrong direction because I am trying to do my best. Criticism helps me to do better. So when people criticise me and say this is not right, I am not offended,” President Mahama stated.
President Mahama assured Ghanaians that he was not disconnected from public conversations, particularly on social media.
He said he keenly follows online commentary, including criticisms on TikTok and other platforms. “So all your TikToks and things, don’t think I don’t see them. I see them,” he added, drawing laughter from the gathering.
He stressed that his ultimate responsibility is to do his best for Ghana and remains open to suggestions from citizens who disagree with his policies and decisions.
