The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Guan District Assembly in the Oti Region, Hon. Godfred Koffie, has assured constituents that measures were in place to accelerate massive infrastructural development in the district to address their challenges.
Mr. Koffie made this known on Friday September 26 on Sekpele FM, a local radio station in his district. He said the assembly will construct classroom blocks at Likpe Avedzeme, Akpafu Sokpo, Likpe Alavanyo and Akpafu Adorkor as these communities lack educational facilities, forcing school children to walk several miles to surrounding communities. Additionally, a 12-unit classroom block will be established at Likpe SHS to enhance academic excellence.
The DCE noted that the assembly will drill and mechanize boreholes at Akpafu Odomi and 8 other needy areas to address water shortages in the district.
He disclosed that the assembly will build a CHPS compound at Likpe Nkwanta, stating that nearly every community in the district will be provided with health facilities to improve quality healthcare.
The District Manager highlighted roads scheduled for rehabilitation including: Lolobi Ashambi-Kumasi, Likpe Mate-Lolobi Kumasi, Santrokofi-Lolobi Kumasi, Likpe Kukurantumi-Lolobi, Likpe Koforidua and Baika among other deplorable roads across the district to improve accessibility and socio-economic development, noting that equipment for the project is already available.
The DCE further urged farmers to form and register groups at the agriculture department to enable effective distribution of farm inputs and promote sustainable agricultural productivity growth in the district.
Hon. Godfred Koffie expressed concern about youth not prioritizing government’s Youth Employment Programme initiatives to address unemployment challenges and encouraged them to embrace government policies for their benefit.
