The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a planned power outage in parts of the Accra East Region on Friday, October 2, 2026, to allow for maintenance works.

According to ECG, the exercise is intended to improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply to customers in the affected areas.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, September 30, the power company said the maintenance exercise would take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

The affected areas include parts of Oyarifa, Ayimensah, Prisons Training School, School Junction and University Farms, as well as surrounding communities.

ECG said the planned interruption forms part of its efforts to undertake maintenance works aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring more reliable electricity supply.

The company has urged residents, businesses and institutions within the affected areas to take note of the scheduled outage and make the necessary preparations.

“ECG will undertake planned maintenance works to improve service delivery. This will result in a temporary outage,” the notice stated.

ECG apologised to customers in the affected communities for any inconvenience the planned interruption may cause.
