In a bid to reclaim Ghana’s unique cultural identity, De Graft Oppong, co-founder of Entertainment Week Ghana, is championing a strategic rebranding of Detty December. With the launch of Entertainment Week Ghana slated for December 2025, Oppong envisions the event as a game-changing platform that will redefine entertainment, creativity, and innovation in Ghana.
Entertainment Week Ghana is designed to bring together industry stakeholders, innovators, and investors for a comprehensive exploration of the evolving entertainment landscape. The event will feature a global entertainment summit, an award ceremony honoring outstanding contributors to the entertainment industry, and a “Deal Room” for venture capital firms and tech-driven entrepreneurs to connect and foster strategic partnerships.
According to Oppong, the initiative was born out of the need to empower creatives, particularly those who have been historically overlooked, and to provide them with the necessary tools for long-term success. “This platform is dedicated to recognizing and empowering creatives, while harnessing the transformative power of technology and innovation,” he stated.
With the support of the Ministry for Youth Development and Empowerment and Diaspora Affairs Ghana, Entertainment Week Ghana is poised to make a significant impact on the creative industry. During a meeting on Wednesday, March 19, Minister George Opare Addo emphasized the initiative’s role in integrating technology and innovation with Ghana’s rich entertainment heritage. Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Director of Diaspora Affairs Ghana, highlighted the event’s inclusive nature, welcoming participation from both local stakeholders and the Ghanaian diaspora.
Organised by Blacvolta Multimedia, Party Extra, and Q Bespoke, Entertainment Week Ghana is set to offer a promising model for a more centralized and controlled Detty December, showcasing Ghana as a hub for creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange.
