Former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has strongly denied reports linking his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to an alleged GH¢55 million matter.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page following his release from EOCO custody, Mr. Aboagye insisted that investigators did not discuss any issue involving GH¢55 million with him throughout his four-day detention.
“For the record, there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None!” he stated emphatically.
Mr. Aboagye also rejected what he described as a “false narrative” surrounding his arrest and detention, expressing confidence that the facts would eventually come to light.
“A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail,” he stated.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director hopeful was arrested and detained by EOCO shortly after declaring his intention to contest for the party position.
Reflecting on his detention, Mr. Aboagye declared that the experience had neither broken his spirit nor diminished his determination to pursue his political ambition.
“I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you, patriots!” he wrote.
He also expressed gratitude to NPP members and supporters who publicly demanded his release, saying reports of their actions reached him while he was in detention and strengthened his resolve.
“To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall,” he said.
According to Mr. Aboagye, the support shown to him went beyond his personal circumstances and represented a broader stand against political intimidation and attempts to silence dissenting voices.
He maintained that his detention would not derail his campaign to become the NPP’s next National Communications Director, declaring that the development had instead strengthened his determination.
“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly. I will lead the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that,” he stated.
Mr. Aboagye added that “fuel has only been added to the fire,” signalling his determination to intensify his campaign for the position.
He further thanked his legal team, the NPP leadership and supporters for standing by him throughout his detention.
“This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours. We move. Stronger. Louder. Together,” he concluded.
