The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has shut down several food service establishments along Oxford Street in Osu for operating without the mandatory Food Hygiene Permit Certificate.
The enforcement exercise, conducted on Thursday, July 16, forms part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enforce food safety regulations and safeguard public health.
According to the FDA, the affected businesses were found to be operating without the legally required Food Hygiene Permit Certificate, which all food establishments in Ghana must obtain before serving the public.
In a statement, the Authority said the facilities would remain closed until they complied with the regulatory requirements.

“The affected establishments will remain closed until they obtain the required Food Hygiene Permit Certificate,” the FDA stated.
The Authority also urged all food business operators to regularise their operations by securing the necessary permits to avoid enforcement action.
“The FDA once again reminds all food businesses to regularise their operations by obtaining the mandatory Food Hygiene Permit to avoid closure and fines,” the statement added.
