The Ghana Education Service has reiterated that no school in the country has been authorised to collect fees from students or parents under any guise.
In a statement shared on Facebook and copied to the Ghana News Agency, the Service dismissed reports suggesting that schools had been permitted to charge feeding fees, describing such claims as false and misleading.
According to GES, any institution demanding money from students in the name of feeding or other unofficial charges is acting without approval and in violation of government policy.
The Service stressed that the government remains fully committed to sustaining and strengthening the Free Senior High School programme.
“Any attempt to undermine this policy, whether through misinformation or the unlawful imposition of fees, will be considered an act against the national interest,” the statement noted.
GES further urged parents and students who encounter such fee demands to report the matter directly to its management for immediate investigation and necessary action.
