The Ghana Energy Transition Consortium (GETC) held a side event on Friday, 15 May, 2026, at Akuma Village as part of Ghana Climate Week 2026.
The session focused on the theme: “Harnessing Wind as a Renewable Energy Source: How Young People Can Position Themselves to Be Part of Government’s Plan?”
The panel brought together Chibeze Ezekiel of the Strategic Youth Network for Development (SYND), Patrick Stephenson from the Natural Resource Governance Institute, Samuel Yeboah of Dream Renewable, Sarah from Sugar Sand, and Salamatu Ibrahim of SYND.
Speakers pointed to Ghana’s strong potential to tap wind and other renewable resources to advance the country’s energy transition agenda.

They stressed that scaling up clean energy will require greater investment, supportive policy and regulatory frameworks, and stronger public awareness.
Panelists also urged young people to build skills and explore opportunities in wind energy development, from project design and installation to policy advocacy, to ensure they play an active role in government’s renewable energy plans.
