Counsel for senior nursing officer, Salomey Awity Baffoe, has underscored that he will contest the High Court’s refusal to grant her temporary release.
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah disclosed the move after Thursday’s online proceedings on September 24, 2026, where the court turned down the request, pointing to continuing probes and fears that materials could be tampered with if she regains freedom.
According to Mr Awuah, the family has directed the legal team to exhaust every legitimate avenue to free the mother of three.
He revealed plans to lodge a formal challenge at the higher court and to write to the Chief Justice for special permission for the Court of Appeal to convene during the recess, given that personal liberty is at stake.
He added that once the case file is forwarded, the team will push for a swift determination, noting the record is not bulky.
Mr Awuah further lamented the toll of the detention on Ms Baffoe’s young children, saying they keep enquiring about her, with the eldest, aged 15, most distressed.
The Accra High Court had earlier rejected Ms Baffoe’s plea for release in a matter connected to alleged abetment tied to posts linked to the “Ghana Jollof” online platform.
