German-born midfielder of Ghanaian descent, Ilyas Ansah, has confirmed he does not plan to feature for the Ghana national football team (Black Stars) at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 21-year-old, currently playing for Union Berlin in Germany, is reportedly on the radar of the Ghana Football Association ahead of the global tournament. Ansah, who has represented Germany at youth levels, said he has not yet decided which country he will commit to at the senior level.
“After the U21 European Championship, I will look into next year and make a decision,” Ansah told Tribuna.com. “As things stand, I won’t be going to the World Cup with Ghana.”
This season, Ansah has made 26 appearances for Union Berlin, scoring five goals and providing two assists, showcasing his growing influence in the Bundesliga.
