KGL Group Executive Chairman, Alex Apau Dadey, has donated GHS 100,000 to support sports development in Mfantsipim, his alma mater.
This generous contribution is part of Mr. Dadey’s commitment to giving back to his community and promoting youth empowerment through sports.
During a courtesy call with the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA), Mr. Dadey reflected on his time at the school, highlighting the discipline, leadership, and competitive spirit that shaped his journey. As a former top athlete, he stressed the importance of sports in instilling values such as hard work, resilience, and teamwork.
The donation will support Mfantsipim’s sports initiatives, and Mr. Dadey also introduced the Alex Dadey Sportsman of the Year Award, an annual GHS 10,000 prize to be awarded to the most deserving sportsman each year. Additionally, KGL Group will be partnering with MOBA to equip young professionals with industry-ready skills for the Ghanaian job market through a mentorship scheme.
Receiving the cash donation, the Headmaster of Mfantsipim School, Reverend Ebenezer Aidoo, expressed gratitude to Mr. Dadey, highlighting the school’s commitment to balancing academic excellence with talent development. He also pointed out the need to identify and nurture student-athletes from across the country.
According to Mr. Dadey, sports is a key pillar of KGL Group’s corporate strategy, citing their investment in grassroots football through the Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship and their sponsorship of the Black Stars. He also mentioned their support for boxing through NLA 590 Mobile.
“Sports is more than just a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative at KGL; it is a key pillar of our corporate strategy,” Mr. Dadey stated. “We are deeply invested in the development of grassroots football through the Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, led by the KGL Foundation, to nurture young talent from across the country,” he noted.
Abusua Panyin Moses Baiden called for streamlining MOBA’s processes to ensure sustained development, while former MOBA President Capt. Paul Forjoe and Ambassador Ashim Morton commended Mr. Dadey for his generous support.
The event concluded with a call for deeper collaboration between KGL Group and MOBA to foster youth empowerment and national development through sports and education. As Mr. Dadey noted, “We are proud to partner with MOBA to empower the next generation of leaders and change-makers in Ghana.”
